FPT designed and manufactured 10 special hydraulic tensioners for tightening the head of a hydrocracker reactor. Since the chemical reaction takes place inside this particular vessel and given the high operating pressures and temperatures to which it is subjected, the tightening operations must be performed with extreme precision and care.

The tie rods in question have a 5” – 8 UN thread, for which the 50% tightening technique was used.

The tensioners manufactured have a stroke of 15 mm and an operating pressure of 1500 bar, at which they provide an axial load of 6247 kN.

A pneumatic-hydraulic pump with a 10-liter reservoir and a maximum operating pressure of 1500 bar, model PP-150010-G, was used to power the tensioners.
