FPT Fluid Power Technology has defined the tightening procedures for the natural gas storage facilities of a power plant. Flanges were tightened using a 25% tightening procedure and relative configuration at 25% on the RJ flanges with 3 “and 3.1 / 2” tie rods.
The most effective use of hydraulic bolt tensioners is to simultaneously tighten all the bolts (100%) present on the bolted joint. Based on the individual needs of the customers, configurations are also made with 50%, 33% and 25% simultaneous tensioning of the bolts present on the bolted connection. A lower percentage is never recommendable.
Proceed by numbering the studs according to the diagrams provided, install the hydraulic bolt tensioners on the marked studs and proceed with the pressurization of the system following the tightening procedures, the kN to be applied and the pressure steps indicated.
The tightening operations were performed with TTS model hydraulic tensioners, designed to adapt to the main types of flanges: ANSI B16.5 – ANSI B16.47 – BS3293 – AWWA – MSS-SP44 – API-6A – API-17D – UNI EN 1092-1 and Norsok, Vector, Slip on, Weld Neck flanges and many others. The TTS series hydraulic tensioners has the optimal combination of developed force and size, with a low weight. Very high pressure hoses and air pump unit completed the hydraulic system. To supplement the supply, FPT has also organized training for the assembly teams who will be responsible for tightening the flanged joints.
