A jacking system composed of 160 hydraulic jacks and 2 synchronised pumps was realized for our customer PHL HYDRAULICS UK Ltd for the hydraulic jacking of 3no floor’s in the square Mile of the city of London.
Due to site restrictions this particular project couldn’t build upwards due to restrictions of blocking the view of the old Bailey and st Paul’s cathedral and couldn’t go down into the basement due to a preserved section of the London wall.
The PHL team were key to early engagement with the client to ensure the jacking element of the works would be possible and designed and built by FPT Fluid Power Technology in designing, building, & then operating a bespoke hydraulic synchronised jacking system.
Key figures:
- Hydraulically synchronise 160 hollow jacks – 30t -250mm
- Operate two synchronised pumps of 80 exits at the same time, split evenly over the floor plate & divided into two sections.
- Possibility of acting on the 160 outputs comfortably inside the pumps
- Just under 2.5 miles of hydraulic hoses installed.
- 100s of meters of DYWIDAG bar
- Hydraulic jacking of 3no floor’s
- Saved the project £2million and 30 weeks on the program.
