The program for the expansion of the Panama Canal consists of the construction of two new sets of locks – one on the Pacific and one on the Atlantic side of the Canal.
FPT has realized 60 tensioners model FPT CTP-160/15-BM50 that will serve for the closing of the 16 gates of the weight of 4.000 ton.
Spring return bolt tensioners have been designed and studied by FPT on dimensions and specifications given by the customer. They have a special design, with end stroke ring, and threaded puller specific for a Macalloy bar D.50, with a maximum load 1.564 kN at 1.500 bar, 15 mm stoke, load cell, hex wrench, bridge and puller.
Tensioners are operated by a pneumo hydraulic pump model FPT PP-1500-10-G.
