FPT designed and manufactured the following model tensioners:
CTP-240/10-M68-RM
CTP-300/10-M76-RM
Operating pressure: 700 bar; stroke: 10 mm
Spring-return design
Driven by a control unit with a three-phase motor and the corresponding high-pressure hoses and accessories.
The tensioners were used for tensioning operations on the turntable installed aboard the FSO Alba Marina (Floating Storage Offloading). The FSO Alba Marina serves as temporary storage for crude oil extracted from the three platforms in the Rospo Mare field.
The two sets of anchor tie rods for the turntable installed on the FSO, M68 and M76, also had to undergo rigorous tensioning tests. The tests were performed directly by FPT on the 152 new tie rods in accordance with the supply specifications.
Each assembly consisting of a tie rod, nuts, and washers of types M68 and M76 was subjected to a tensile test using an FPT tensioner, reaching 91% of the tie rod material’s yield strength. The purpose of the test was to verify the absence of permanent deformation on the threads and the tie rod.
To achieve this, the length of each tie rod was measured with a certified caliper before and after the tensioning test.
During tensioning, the elongation of the tie rod was also measured using a dial indicator. For the M68 tie rod, an axial load of 2440 kN was achieved, corresponding to 700 bar, while for the M7 tie rod
